A councillor of ANC eThekwini ward shot dead outside his premises.

An eThekwini ward 103 councillor was on Saturday night , shot dead outside his home. The ANC confirmed the death of councillor Minenhle Mkhize to News24.

Minenhle Mkhize was elected as the newly councillor of eThekwini ward 103 during the 2021 municipal elections in November. The deaths of councillors and violence in the KwaZulu-Natal province have been seen over years during the election period.

Several by-elections will be held in KwaZulu-Natal in February. A few of the contested wards will be headed for elections in February due to the loss of the eThekwini ward 103 councillor. The motive of the killing still unknown.
